"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it." -John Adams

Welcome to Patriot's Lament. We strive here to educate ourselves on Liberty. We will not worry ourselves so much with the daily antics of American politics, and drown ourselves in the murky waters of the political right or left.
Instead, we will look to the Intellectuals and Champions of Liberty, and draw on their wisdom of what it is to be a truly free people. We will learn from where our Providential Liberties are derived, and put the proper perspective of a Free Individual and the State.

As important as liberty is, freedom from the power of sin is more important.

As we remember the birth of Christ and celebrate the coming of the New Year, I pray that we may all experience, appreciate and demonstrate the liberty we have in Christ Jesus from the slavery of sin, and the New Life He purchased for us.

  2. Spiritual slavery does not derive from any acculturated, subjective framework of "sin," but from the concept we hold in this state of consciousness that we must seek something external to ourselves in order to grow spiritually and to seek the the purest Good and the Just, which is God.

Christ is variously remembered as a sacrifice, a vessel, a son, and a king and lord, but seldom as a Redeemer and bringer of the Good News.

The spirit of God lays in all of us, not external to us. We live in a form of servitude, but it is self-imposed and the master it serves is a projection of ego. Truth will set you free, and in seeking the Truth, one sees God reflected in one's own actions and perceptions.

It is not a case of some duality where "freedom from the power of sin is more important" than Liberty. These are not opposing or contrasting concepts. The concept of 'importance,' however, is in opposition to that which is the Whole.

Liberty in Thought *IS* freedom from sin. 'Sin' is not a force that exerts power over you; you ARE the power, and simultaneously, you, as individual, as concept, are a projection, an abstraction and an illusion. And you are none of those things.

"In my House there are many rooms." "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone."

We know of Christ by his having been said to exist, and of God by the fact that we cannot conceive of a state of existence of non-existence.
