In this episode we talk about 1 Samuel 8:10-18
and how we see the same thing today. You have made your choice!! We ask
how Justice can be served by the State that is the ultimate judge of its
own actions. In the second hour we expand on non-participation in this
government, and show how no matter what a politician says or thinks he
believes, once voted into office, power corrupts his mind. Get off your
knees and be free!
"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it." -John Adams
Welcome to Patriot's Lament. We strive here to educate ourselves on Liberty. We will not worry ourselves so much with the daily antics of American politics, and drown ourselves in the murky waters of the political right or left.
Instead, we will look to the Intellectuals and Champions of Liberty, and draw on their wisdom of what it is to be a truly free people. We will learn from where our Providential Liberties are derived, and put the proper perspective of a Free Individual and the State.

The reason God was so mad at Israel for asking for a king is because He saw it as a rejection of His leadership of the nation. But depending on God to answer the call of the moment requires so much FAITH. Faith is hard. Give us a king.

People aren't perfect and aren't perfectible, but a monopoly on force and theft (a state) exacerbates the faults in people because it gives them a social pass for their immoral actions -- indeed it elevates immoral actions to virtues. The left says that people can be perfected if only we get the right laws and right managers to make them be perfect. The right says that people are crap and therefore we need a state to make them behave. Both of these views yield social devastation.

Aaron,
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you about Americans thinking the end of America must necessarily be the End Times. Very very funny, once I realized the error.

As Moses led the Children of Israel out of Egypt a large portion of the people were murmuring for the slavery but relative security of their slavery. God had to let that entire generation die in the wilderness. They couldn't do the paradigm shift to freedom.

Wendy McElroy writes a stunningly perceptive article 15 years ago on the "moral" dilemma that is supposed to exist which supposedly justifies voting for Romney instead of Obama.
