"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it." -John Adams

Welcome to Patriot's Lament. We strive here to educate ourselves on Liberty. We will not worry ourselves so much with the daily antics of American politics, and drown ourselves in the murky waters of the political right or left.
Instead, we will look to the Intellectuals and Champions of Liberty, and draw on their wisdom of what it is to be a truly free people. We will learn from where our Providential Liberties are derived, and put the proper perspective of a Free Individual and the State.

Patriot's Lament August 4, 2012: Can You Vote For Freedom and Bring Your Brain

In this episode we claim that voting is the reason for American apathy, and ask if you cannot gain freedom by voting, why do you vote?! What freedom have we ever gotten from voting? It's the slaves choice. In the second hour,we claim that anything you vote on,you give your consent for the outcome. You admit you only have Rights that the State allows you to have. Are we free or are we slaves?!! Please don't hurt me Mr. State!! Slave.

  1. Ok guys, I have been listening to your stuff for a while now and am convinced that it smacks of the truth for our time. I believe that most of the sheople do NOT want to change their paradigm because they do not see anything better. How has this faction of tyranny gotten to this height? By offering hope when the sky falls in. I hear NO hope coming from your side of the camp. There are so many people and factions that are coming together to support others in the world that desire freedom. Watch the Thrive movie. They offer a way to come together and make a difference in the new world that is coming soon. They offer solutions for our impending doom.

    1. Thanks for sticking your lives out there with your voice. People are waiting and listening for a savior I know, but putting out some solutions for them to choose from helps. This could be the life vest that some weaker ones need. We have to be the change we want to see in the world. I'm working on this too. :)

  2. I disagree, everyone believes in there pre set principals, and goes about the answer to making things better by joining whatever group is pushing theres they best, using passive force or even aggressive force, we do have the answer, the answer is NOT collective forcing of "goods" on people's, I can sum it up, it's easier to fight for ones principles than to live up to them, we implore people to "be the change" not change the world, ours is the only answer, I cannot force change, would everyone have it that josh and Aaron ruled over them to force change? You cannot produce "bads" and hope for "goods" live your principles instead of fighting for them, be the change AARON BENNETT

  3. yes, I understand. At least we agree on the part to be the change we want to see. But maybe I am seeing this wrong? I am not talking about forcing anything on anybody. I am talking about coming together with others. I believe it is always good to live in community with others that can peacefully coexist??? We can't do it all. We each have areas of special knowledge. I can't build a house very well, but you can. I know how about health care. I have knowledge to barter. Like I have always lived in the past. Not a bad way.

The last paragraph is great, but the key to it is:

Not voting is a psychological act. It is a breaking free from allegiance to a system that is broken. That's far more important than any conceivable benefit from a cost-benefit standpoint of voting. The idea is to get free of the warfare-welfare state and its crazy impositions domestically and its empire overseas.

And he goes on to the "what do we do" question:

The premise of not voting is not to change the system through that system, but to change that system through a change in thinking and ideas at the personal level that then leads to social change and a basic change in how 300 million people govern themselves. It's a bottom up notion. It's educational in nature. The context is really a change toward an ethics of liberty. This is a slow process and formless. There's no formula to it. We can't get right without doing right. Every small step to doing right reinforces it and has a tendency to spread in unanticipated ways.

Then back to why voting is bad:

At present, voting is an act of domestic warfare, with winner take all. That's no way to live. It's as simple as that. My social theory of change, such as it is, emphasizes changing thinking at the individual level as a necessary condition for any successful and long-lasting social change.

Lew Rockwell has made the point that the Revolutionary War cut short the development of liberty here. That was difficult to hear, but I'm tending to think he is right.
