"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it." -John Adams

Welcome to Patriot's Lament. We strive here to educate ourselves on Liberty. We will not worry ourselves so much with the daily antics of American politics, and drown ourselves in the murky waters of the political right or left.
Instead, we will look to the Intellectuals and Champions of Liberty, and draw on their wisdom of what it is to be a truly free people. We will learn from where our Providential Liberties are derived, and put the proper perspective of a Free Individual and the State.

Bumper sticker

I had some bumper stickers made a few weeks ago, we have given away about 80 so far, and I have seen them around town now.
So, if you would like a bumper sticker, just email us with a mailing address and I will send you one.
I think they are super sweet myself.

This of course was inspired by Murray Rothbard. If you haven't read or heard the podcast of it, you should.
This isn't about any person or geographical area. It's about an inner hatred for an organization of violence and death. Of sanctioned theft and redistribution. Of slavery to a entity that you cannot change or effect.
Of involuntary servitude at the point of a gun under the threat of a bullet to your head.

Do you HATE the STATE??

I do.

  2. I have not read what Rothbard wrote, so until I have, I guess I shouldn't comment. But you have to convince your Mother that putting hate toward something will create something good of it. Or is it the idea that hate destroys, thus destroys evil. Hmm. But when I see putting emphasis on the hate part of this, it seems that would be what grows....hate....not peace. Sure I hate the "State". But the State is us isn't it?? So we can hate the idea of state. Ok, I'll go and read some more...

  3. Anonymous, that was awesome, I read the "stupid republicans" too, which made the first one even funnier.

    Mom,
    Hating something evil is not wrong. I am not hating a person. I am hating a system.
    I do not just dislike murder, I hate it. I don't just dislike injustice, I hate it.
    I'll use the bible for an example, "Hate evil and love what is good; turn your courts into true halls of justice", Amos 5:15.
    " Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good." Romans 12:9
    I could go on and on here. To truly love that which is good, one must hate evil.
    The bible says by hating evil God will have compassion on his people. So I would say that is a good thing to come from hating evil.
    "learn to do good;
    seek justice,
    correct oppression;
    bring justice to the fatherless,
    plead the widow's cause.
    18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord".
    Isaiah 1:17-18

    So even God (Logos) says that to do right is reasonable, using logic, doing wrong is unreasonable. So I will infer that to love these things," correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless and plead the widows cause" is to hate what is the opposite of them.
    I will not merely dislike oppression of the fatherless, I will hate it. I will not merely dislike injustice done to the poor and widow in the courts, I will hate it. My hatred is rational. Don't get sucked up by the word itself. Merely saying you hate something evil doesn't provoke more evil. Neither does the word "love" make something good.
    Saying all we need is love isn't rational. It's mythical. We should love, but some things by right ought to be hated.
    The last part of your comment, isn't the state us? It's not me. I am not the state, I refuse to give it my consent and I refuse to justify what it does. By way of reason, you are not the state either, you cannot use a state pickup, you would be thrown in jail. You cannot "borrow" a state wheel barrow, you would be thrown in jail. No mom, you are not the State, rather, your participation legitimizes what the State does, you are not the State, you are it's enabler.
    I hate the State. I believe in no government, only self governance. We can live in peace with each other, voluntarily, that is why I believe in Anarchy. And I believe it is in complete harmony with my religion.
    No Priests, No Kings!!!

  5. The Psalmist hated every false way (Psalm 118:104).

    My contention would be that statism is a false way. The State is the manifestation of statism.
