"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it." -John Adams

Welcome to Patriot's Lament. We strive here to educate ourselves on Liberty. We will not worry ourselves so much with the daily antics of American politics, and drown ourselves in the murky waters of the political right or left.
Instead, we will look to the Intellectuals and Champions of Liberty, and draw on their wisdom of what it is to be a truly free people. We will learn from where our Providential Liberties are derived, and put the proper perspective of a Free Individual and the State.

  2. Wonderful after interview talk with Natalie!

Josh -- you are right, people are desperate. Christians are desperate because they've/we've transferred our faith from God to D.C. and we're being shown what a false god D.C. is, and we're afraid of having to 1) come to terms with the idolatry and 2) actually put our faith in God for the here and now, rather than just the distant (we hope) future of our afterlife.

  3. Excellent point about needing immediate change, Josh and Aaron. The only way to get IMMEDIATE change is to threaten people.

Revolutions (violent) don't work because the problem was the people's attitudes/thoughts/faith and the revolution doesn't change that. Exactly, Aaron!

Steve, you're right about the French Revolution being what we'd see here. The mindset of the American population is much closer to the Jacobins than the Classical Liberals.

We have to educate then LIVE it. We can't be the people who look in the mirror and walk away unaffected. We must demonstrate that it works. The harmony of our ideas and our lives will be convincing.

The Larkin Rose speech on speaking out when it is unpopular is when it matters. We may be the only non-conventional thought the average person experiences. Some sow, some reap, but God gives the increase. This really is the temporal message the church should be spreading, not the neo-Con message of "spreading democracy via drones". How much damage does the church do to the message of Christ by being the most warmongering/violence threatening group in the country?
